Learning Support Assistant

Job Description

Are you a proactive and enthusiastic individual looking for a role in a school environment? Zest Education is currently recruiting for a part-time (Thursday and Friday) experienced and dedicated Learning Support Assistant on behalf of a school north of Warwick on an ongoing basis. The role will be starting as soon as possible for the right candidate. The candidate must have previous experience in personal care or special educational needs settings.

The school you will be working in provides exceptional education and support for students aged 4yo to 19yo with a range of special educational needs ranging from Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This Learning Support Assistant role will be perfect for an individual who is passionate about working with students with the above needs, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and assistance to succeed academically and emotionally. You will be providing 1:1, 1:2 support and assisting the classroom teacher with other planned activities.

 

Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant role include:

  • Building rapport with students, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students’ engagement and participation in activities
  • Assist in personal care tasks, ensuring the comfort and well-being of student
  • Monitor, track, record and provide feedback to teachers regarding student progress
  • Being able to show initiative due to working in a fast-paced environment

 

Requirements of the Learning Support Assistant role include:

  • Relevant experience supporting individuals with ASD and PMLD
  • Good understanding of the needs and challenges faced by student with complex needs
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students
  • A positive and proactive attitude, confident with their behaviour management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
